During our cider journey, we befriended a number of renowned cidermakers, cider educators, food scientists and cider authors, some of whom we invited over to Kazakhstan to see the wild apple forests for themselves.

Having dedicated their careers to the apple and related products, for each of them, the opportunity to visit the homeland of the apple, and seeing and tasting its wild apples, was fulfilling a lifelong ambition.

Together we visited several wild forest areas, each located in protected natural reserves and learnt about Malus Siversii’s history and properties from some of Kazakhstan’s leading pomologists.
